Library Card Boxes

Hi everyone. I wanted to share my current project. I bought some library card boxes at a garage.

I got this whole set for $2.00!  First thing out of my hubby’s mouth was “what is that junk?”.  I know… Not many share my vision. Hehehe.

Started by painting them with chalk paint. I made the chalk paint on my own. I will share the recipe at the end.

I then thought they looked to plain. So I decided to Modge Podge them.

Corners on this one are die cuts painted gold.

This is still an ongoing project. I will share the finished project when done.

Now for the chalk paint. I bought a sample paint at Home Depot. Had them mix it to the color I wanted. Came to around $3.00.

So here is my recipe.

Chalk Paint

  • 7.75 Glidden Sample Paint
  • 2 oz Plaster of Paris
  • 3 Tablespoon Water

Mix Plaster of Paris and water first. Should be the consistency of sour cream. Then add to paint and stir well.  Keep in an airtight container.
